Moving To Success: Integrating Content Areas with Physical Education The presentation will provide elementary teachers the framework for developing a total PE program. This includes a developmental K-5 curriculum, formative and summative assessment practices and how to integrate the PE learning standards into the instructional process. The goal of the presentation is to help teachers meet the expectations Program Review.

SPARK Up Technology in Your PE Class! Using the iPad to enhance your teaching
Attend this session to see how SPARK uses the iPad to make teaching easier, more productive, and fun! Participants will learn how to use the iPad to access and use SPARK's content and resources during class as well as the best apps for PE teachers. IPad resources include class management, assessments, videos, and teaching strategies.

Score Your Way into Wellness!
This session will outline a challenging, motivating method to get your whole school involved in increasing physical activity and improving nutrition for faculty, staff and students. This competition-based program utilizes a point system to entice participation and make wellness fun!

Nutrition Games
Battle the obesity epidemic with these fun, fast-paced activities that promote fitness, good nutrition, and basic skills that are used in all physical education classes.
There will be games such a "Portion Pursuit" that teaches your students about the proper portion size while giving them a great workout with this fast-paced station game. "Food-Tag Frenzy" promotes students to learn about the food pyramid while staying active! It's a race to fill your plate with healthy foods from each food group! And of course, our FITstep Pedometers can be used in all of these activities to measure moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA).
If you want to learn new team games, be active and have fun, this session is the one for you!

Elementary climbing – Its not as hard as you think it is – This session will provide the knowledge and skills to teach a K-5 climbing wall unit and inspire participants to include indoor climbing as an additional lifetime fitness activity

Fitness Circuits A physically active session, demonstrating different types of fitness circuits. The focus of these circuits is to get a large group of students exercising at the same time throughout the entire gym space. A new twist to get away from the old “stations” style circuit training.

KY to Host 2014 Southern District
AAHPERD Convention
As a result of hosting the Feb. 2014 SDAAHPERD Convention we
(KAHPERD) WILL NOT have a Nov. 2013 Convention. This will
allow KAHPERD Members to attend the SDAAHPERD Convention in Lexington, KY in Feb.2014.
This Meeting will allow us (KAHPERD) the opportunity to meet/attend meetings
w/Professionals from the Southern 13 States!!
That means when planning your PD budget for the 2013-2014 year
plan to attend the SDAAHPERD Convention in Lexington, KY.
KAHPERD Members will only pay SDAAHPERD Registration Fees.
Volunteers will be needed to provide services to the SDAAHPERD, showing everyone
in the SDAAHPERD why KY is so GREAT!!
KAHPERD will return to our regular Convention
Schedule in the Fall of 2014.
